Summary
The Network Foundation starts with neighborhood mediation in the municipalities of Stede Broec, Enkhuizen and Drechterland.Detailed description
Voluntary mediators are deployed in pairs with neighbors who experience nuisance from one another and who want to restore mutual contact. The mediators help the neighbors in the search for common interests and in making agreements with the aim of ensuring that the nuisance does not escalate and mutual communication is restored. The neighborhood mediators receive basic training (of 6 half-days) to mediate between neighbors in a conflict. The mediators first enter into a separate conversation with the neighbors to hear their stories. If both neighbors agree to a mediation meeting, you will plan this together with your fellow mediator and the neighbors. The mediation interview takes place at a neutral location. During the mediation process it is important that the mediators are impartial, do not give judgment and are able to deal with emotions and resistance. We also offer annual in-depth training and peer review meetings with the other intermediaries. The time at which the mediation interview is held is agreed upon in close consultation. It is important that you are able to listen well and to distance yourself from your own standards and values. In addition, it is important that both parties make their wishes and interests known and that both parties contribute to solving the problem. Neutrality and impartiality are required of the Neighborhood Mediation volunteer.
About Stichting Netwerk, Centraal Bureau
As a welfare institution, we contribute to the social infrastructure of Hoorn and we are a connecting link between individual, environment and society.
We activate the own strength and possibilities of residents in the neighborhoods and respond to developments in a rapidly changing society. We carry out our work in collaboration with around 900 volunteers and many partners. We continuously work on improving quality, for example, all playgroups are included in the Quality Register for Playgroups and we are HKZ certified.
