Summary
The West Frisian Archive in Hoorn is looking for importers for the online entry of the Notarial Archive.Detailed description
The Westfries Archive is looking for participants for a special project: entering names from old notarial deeds. In the depots of the West Frisian archive are thousands of bindings full of deeds drawn up by notaries in West Frisia from 1552 onwards. Only a small part can be searched by name or location via the website of the Westfries Archive. We ask you to enter the missing data. So that at the end of the project, all notarial deeds are searchable by names of persons, places and locations.
We start with nineteenth-century certificates. Then we move on to the older deeds.
Entering the data is done online in the project Compared for me on Crowdsourcing platform VeleHanden. Are you curious? Go to www. many hands. nl, sign up and look up our Compares project for me . Click on 'participate' and you can immediately start entering data. Each deed is checked by another volunteer after entry. After that, all entered data will be placed on the website of the Westfries Archive where they can be searched by everyone.
You can enter the data at home, behind your own laptop or computer when it suits you. You can ask your questions to other participants or to the project management on the project page of Comparerden for me . You can also reach the project management by telephone and e-mail. You will also find an extensive manual on the project page under the tab 'project info'. Tip: read this before you start entering.
Every second Friday of the month for all project participants Compareerden morning walk for me on the West Frisian archives to speak to each other, and ask for instructions. Project management is always present during the walk-in morning.
Do you prefer to work on location? Which can! It is possible to work a fixed part of the day a week on this project at the Westfries Archive. If desired, you can also use a laptop from the Westfries Archive. In addition, there is always someone from the project management nearby to answer your questions.
Due to the corona crisis, it is currently not possible to work on location on Compares for me . The walk-in mornings are also canceled. You can, however, get started online with Compareren for me and you can email the project management: volunteers [AT] westfries archive. nl (fill in an at sign on [AT])
