Summary
We are looking for volunteers who can occasionally help with translation during parent conversations at primary schools in their own living environment.Detailed description
Would you like to help us to guide parents who do not yet have sufficient command of Dutch during parent conversations?
It would be great for these parents to get to know the Dutch education system better with your help and to avoid misunderstandings in communication.
It would help schools to get to know parents and pupils better in order to optimally support the children during their development.
About Nieuwkomervoorziening West Friesland
Newcomer facility West Friesland provides education for 6 to 12-year-old pupils in their first year in the Netherlands. There are 2 newcomer classes in Hoorn, 1 in Bovenkarspel and 1 in Medemblik. After this year, the students will move on to primary schools in the area. These primary schools also include students with Dutch as a second language who have been in the Netherlands for some time.
Good contact between school and parents is very important. Together they can optimally guide the child. Due to the language barrier and the differences between the Dutch education system and that of the country of origin, this communication between school and parents is sometimes somewhat difficult. We can use help with that.
